Hallmark's "Love at First Bark" Didn't Hold Much Bark
This past Saturday, the Hallmark channel debuted their Spring Fling movie campaign with the first movie, "Love at First Bark" starring Jana Kramer and Kevin McGarry. This was Jana's first foray into the world of Hallmark movies but Kevin McGarry could be seen in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From Paris with Love in 2015.
I had a hard time getting into this movie and, to be honest, I ended up having the movie on as background noise. The only thing the movie seemed to have gotten right was the chemistry between Jana and Kevin. It wasn't explosive or gut clenching but it was subtle and very playful; their scene at the pool hall was so fun to watch!
What didn't I like?
1. There was something about Jana's appearance I didn't like but I'm not sure what it was. It was either the blonde highlights she was sporting or the fake eyelashes though.
2. The dog was a serious dud. Yes he was cute but the dog was as calm as a cucumber and there was absolutely no reason for him to go to dog training.
3. The lack of conflict and then the decision at the end to bring in the ex-girlfriend just to stir up some drama. Though there wasn't much, Julia saw them hug so she obviously had to freak out and run out on him without letting him explain. I know, it's a Hallmark movie but, come. on!
Overall, I'll give this movie a C-.

This Saturday, Hallmark debuts the second movie in their Spring Fling campaign called "Moonlight in Vermont" starring Lacey Chabert and Carlo Mark. Lacey is one of Hallmark's favorite go-to actresses and normally I'd be excited about a movie starring her but... I'm still trying to forgive her for her performance in A Wish for Christmas so she's on thin ice with this movie. Carlo's claim to Hallmark fame is appearing in three episodes of Hallmark's original series, Chesapeake Shores, as Jess's boyfriend David. I didn't rally watch that show so I'll be interested to see what he brings to the table.
